Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has approved the appointment of 94 Senior Special Assistants, as announced in a statement by his Press Secretary, Sanusi Dawakin-Tofa. However, it is notable that only five women are included among the 94 newly appointed aides.
The women appointed to these roles are Rahama Kabeer Fagge, who will serve as Senior Special Reporter I at the Government House; Amina Isah Bebeji, who takes the position of Special Reporter at SEMA (State Emergency Management Agency); Maijidda Garba, appointed as Special Reporter at REB (Rural Electrification Board); Fatima Usman Muhammad, who assumes the role of Senior Special Reporter at KNARDA (Kano State Agricultural and Rural Development Authority); and Asiya Muhammad Umar, who will serve as Special Reporter at the Hospitality Management Institute.
This marks the second round of appointments made by Governor Yusuf in September. Earlier in the month, he appointed 14 additional Special Advisers and 44 Senior Special Reporters to various ministries, departments, and agencies in the state. In that previous appointment, there were 10 women among the 44 Senior Special Reporters and two serving as Special Advisers.
