Nigerian actor Mr Ibu, whose real name is John Okafor, has become a trending topic as overjoyed Nigerians celebrate his return home. The excitement follows a video posted by fellow actor Ken Erics, showing a healthy and happy-looking Mr Ibu in the comfort of his own home.
On Sunday, January 21, 2024, Ken Erics shared the heartwarming video, captioned, “Happy Sunday Lovelies. Something to brighten your day @realmribu.”

The post made by ken triggered a wave of happy reactions on social media, with fans and celebrities expressing gratitude and joy in the comment section. Nollywood actress Sola Sobowale commented, “To God be the glory 🙏🙏👏👏👏💙💙💙,” while actress Gift Ibiwari said, “Uncle Ibu is back home, Glory to God, Thank you.”
Mr Ibu had spent several months in medical care in 2023 due to diseased blood cells and constant blood clotting in his leg. In November 2023, his family revealed that a leg had been amputated to address the ailment.
The actor’s health struggles became public knowledge on his 62nd birthday in October 2023, which was celebrated in a hospital. His family had appealed for financial assistance from well-wishers to facilitate his treatment abroad. By November, they announced that he had undergone seven successful surgeries in Nigeria, including the amputation.
The last update on Mr Ibu’s health, provided by his family on December 16, mentioned another amputation on the same leg due to the first one not fully addressing the ailment. With this recent video of Mr Ibu’s homecoming, fans and colleagues are relieved to see him healthy and in good spirits.
