Kwara Cleric Seeks Help After Wife Delivers 11 Babies

An Islamic cleric from Kwara State, Yahya Nafiu, has made a heartfelt plea for assistance after his wife, Latoyossi Alake, gave birth to 11 babies. The remarkable births occurred at a traditional birth attendant’s home in Porto-Novo, Benin Republic, between July 7 and August 14, 2024. Tragically, two of the babies passed away at birth, leaving nine surviving children—eight boys and one girl.

Speaking to journalists, Yahya, a native of Ilorin, expressed deep concern over the financial burden his family now faces. He explained that the cost of caring for the nine surviving babies is overwhelming. Additionally, he shared the challenges of raising funds for essential needs, including medical bills, marriage rites, and obtaining necessary documentation to bring the children home to Ilorin.

Yahya appealed to both the federal and state governments, as well as compassionate individuals, for urgent financial assistance. His elder brother, Azakariyau Nafiu, and the National President of the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union, Abdulmumini Abdulmalik, confirmed the family’s situation and emphasized that the father hails from the Onikeke Compound in the Popo Giwa area of Ilorin.
