A female student pursuing a Higher National Diploma at the Federal Polytechnic, Offa, in Kwara State, is said to have been fatally hacked by unidentified individuals.
The girl, named Food Technology Department student Toyin Bamidele, was allegedly killed by hacking on Thursday in her leased residence off campus.
On Friday, Mrs. Folake Oyinloye, the acting head of the institution’s public relations unit, confirmed the suspected murder to media.
“The management condemns this inhumane act in strong terms, as it is strange in the polytechnic community,” stated Oyinloye, confirming that the management has started an inquiry into the murder in collaboration with security agencies.
“Although the incident’s circumstances are still unknown, the relevant security agencies are actively conducting investigations to identify the evil occurrence and, urgently, to apprehend those responsible. “The management somberly condoles with her family, friends, and the Department of Food Technology for the great loss and urges anyone who has useful information on this occurrence to report to security agents.” Her death is an irreparable loss to the entire Polytechnic administration and staff. Her passing has left the Polytechnic’s management and staff in irreparable mourning.
“Anyone with valuable information regarding this incident is urged to report it to security agents. The management extends its deepest condolences to her family, friends, and the Department of Food Technology for this terrible loss.”The management asks God to calm her spirit, give her eternal peace, and support her family during this difficult time.
As of the time this report was filed, Mr. Victor Olaiya, the State Commissioner of Police, could not be reached by phone; therefore, all attempts to get in touch with the police were unsuccessful.
