Labour Plans To Shut Down NCC, MTN, And Glo

Over a month after the government and the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) agreed to reduce the telecom tariff hike from 50% to 35%, nothing has changed. Instead, telecom operators have gone ahead with the full 50% increase, leaving Nigerians frustrated.

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) had pressured the government to lower the hike, but with no action taken, the union is planning a major protest against the NCC and telecom operators. NLC leaders say they feel deceived and are ready to take drastic action to force a reversal.

In response, the NLC has already begun mobilizing for industrial action, urging Nigerians to boycott MTN, Airtel, and Glo at specific hours daily. If nothing changes, they warn of a total telecom shutdown in the coming weeks.
