“Lagos Assembly: Plot to Attack Speaker and Others Revealed”

The Lagos State House of Assembly has alleged that there are plans by certain individuals to attack its Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, and other lawmakers. This comes after the recent screening and rejection of some cabinet nominees sent by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

During the plenary session, Speaker Mudashiru Obasa addressed the issue, emphasizing that the House will not be intimidated by any form of threats or protests. He revealed that he had received information about plans to attack him based on the House’s decision regarding the rejected nominees. However, he stated that the House’s actions were in line with the constitution and that it would not yield to intimidation.

Obasa also stated that the House had refrained from revealing all the details discovered during the screening of the nominees. He warned against instigating conflicts and urged those planning to sponsor actions against the House to realize that protests and sponsored articles would not change the House’s decision.

He clarified that the House’s actions are not indicative of a conflict between the governor and the House. Obasa emphasized that the House and the governor are colleagues working towards the development of Lagos State. He also pointed out that the House has its constitutional responsibility to approve or reject nominees based on their merits.

Obasa explained the reasons behind rejecting some of the commissioner nominees and stressed that the House’s decisions were made after careful consideration of their qualifications and track records.

In conclusion, Obasa cautioned against fourth columnists attempting to instigate conflict and urged everyone involved to handle the situation with care and respect for due process.
