In a groundbreaking collaboration, Kugali Media and Disney Animation have confirmed the release date for the long-anticipated sci-fi series, “Iwaju,” after four years of development and production . The animated series is set to hit screens on February 28, 2024, as officially announced with the release of a captivating teaser on Monday, January 22, 2024. This confirmation follows the initial announcement made during the 2023 African International Film Festival (AFRIFF), promising viewers a futuristic and immersive experience.

“Iwaju,” created by Hamid Ibrahim, Toluwalakin Olowofoyeko, and directed by Ziki Nelson, unfolds in a futuristic portrayal of Lagos, Nigeria. The narrative, penned by Adeola Hudson and Halima Hudson, revolves around the story of Tola, a young girl from an affluent island, and her tech-savvy companion, Kole. The strength of their friendship is tested by Bode, a tech pioneer concealing a criminal underworld ruled with an iron fist.
The star-studded cast contributing voices to this groundbreaking animation includes Nigerian-American actors Dayo Okeniyi, Simisola Gbadamosi, veteran actor Femi Branch, Siji Soetan, British-Nigerian actress Weruche Opia, Shaffy Bello, Obi Maduegbuna, Kehinde Bankole, Chioma Omeruah, Bisola Ayeiola, and Tosin Oshinaike.
