Hon. Dickson Tarkighir, the representative for Makurdi/Guma Federal Constituency in Benue State’s House of Representatives, has issued a warning of a potential N10 billion lawsuit against Venita Akpofure and the organizers of the reality show for what he perceives as defamation of the Tiv Nation.
Venita recently faced significant backlash for making a controversial statement on the reality show, claiming that “Tiv men offer their wives to visitors for entertainment purposes.” This statement provoked outrage among the Tiv people residing in Nigeria’s North Central region, with many individuals calling for legal action to be taken against her.
In response, Hon. Tarkighir has proposed that both Venita and the Big Brother Naija brand be subjected to legal action for affording her a significant platform to allegedly defame the entire Tiv tribe. He expressed these sentiments on his Facebook page, stating, “Venita Akpofure – Slam a 10BN defamation suit on her, the Big Brother brand, and its promoters, they provided her with the mega platform to defame an entire tribe and are equally liable for not disowning her.”
