Man Gets Life Sentence for Kidnapping Ekiti Monarch

In a landmark ruling, an Ekiti State High Court has sentenced Gabriel Emmanuel, 25, to life imprisonment for the kidnapping of Oba Adeniran Benjamin Omotayo, the Eleda of Eda-Ile. The court also found him guilty of murder and extortion, crimes that sent shockwaves through the community.

The monarch, recounting his ordeal, revealed how he was abducted on his farm, held in captivity for four days, and only released after his family paid a ₦1.28 million ransom. The case, dating back to 2020, exposed the chilling operations of a gang that targeted prominent figures. This judgment not only serves as justice for the victims but also reinforces the rule of law in Ekiti State.
