A 43-year-old driver, Laurence Rafter, has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for removing a condom during sex without his partner’s consent. Rafter, who met the woman on a dating app in 2021 under a fake identity, was also found guilty of harassment after falsely claiming he was HIV-positive.
The court heard that he deceived the woman by posing as a wealthy businessman while living in a small flat. After evading police with fake documents and a prepaid phone, he was eventually caught and convicted. The judge described him as a dangerous predator, while authorities praised the victim’s courage in ensuring justice was served.
