After a Nigerian Air Force air interdiction near Bukar Meram in Borno State, several militants were killed.
During the air raids, six gun trucks and more than 40 motorcyclists were also destroyed.
Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, the Air Force’s spokesperson, said in a statement on Sunday that the operations were carried out after personnel learned that the terrorists had departed Suwa for Bukar Meram.
He stated, “In the early hours of October 14, 2023, the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai conducted air interdiction flights at a newly discovered terrorist hideout at Bukar Meram, close to the Lake Chad region.
The strikes were necessary because it was determined that terrorists had just moved from Suwa to the general region of Bukar Meram with the likely intention of resuming assaults on ground soldiers and innocent people. In order to eliminate the terrorists, airstrikes were authorized at the Bukar Meram area. After the attacks, feedback was obtained that proved the desired result had been accomplished. Several terrorists had been neutralized, and their capacity to target ground soldiers and defenseless Nigerians had been diminished thanks to the destruction of almost 40 motorcycles and six gun trucks.
Similar operations, according to Gabkwet, were also carried out in Zamfara State, where many terrorists were slain.
He continued by saying that roughly 70 terrorists’ motorcycles had been destroyed.
“Recall that on October 11, 2023, in the early morning hours, the Air Component of Operation Haradin Daji targeted terrorists in the Sangeko axis of the Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
“The terrorists, who were in a convoy of about 70 motorcycles on the road track leading from Kabaro towards Sangeko, were subsequently engaged, with several neutralised, their motorcycles destroyed, and others injured,” the statement continued.
