Popular comedian and actor, Mr Macaroni, has said Nigerian politicians remain corrupt because citizens fail to hold them responsible for their actions. He made this statement while responding to calls for Nigerians to unfollow celebrities who don’t speak on national issues.
Mr Macaroni argued that celebrities should not be forced into activism when the people themselves refuse to take action. He pointed out that Nigerians often ignore police brutality in real life but later criticize celebrities online for not speaking up. He stressed that true change will only happen when the people unite and take responsibility instead of waiting for celebrities to lead.
He also noted that politicians exploit the country’s tolerance for bad governance, knowing that citizens will always adjust to difficult situations. He urged Nigerians to set aside tribal and religious differences and come together to demand accountability from their leaders.
