Nasarawa Hospital Gives Two-Week Deadline for Unclaimed Corpses

The Federal Medical Centre in Keffi, Nasarawa State, has issued a two-week ultimatum for the retrieval of nine unclaimed corpses that have been kept in its mortuary for an extended period. The medical centre stated that some of these corpses were brought to the hospital in 2021 and others in 2022, which exceeds the legally allowed time limit of 6 months.

The management of the medical centre is urging members of the public who may have lost their loved ones during the specified period to visit the hospital’s morgue for possible identification and claim of the bodies.

The two-week deadline for claiming the corpses began on September 22, 2023. If the corpses remain unclaimed after the deadline, the medical centre will be left with no other option but to conduct a mass burial for them.
