NFF Assures Super Falcons of Payment for World Cup Prize Money

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has reassured the Super Falcons that they will receive their prize money from the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, as well as other outstanding payments owed to them.

The Super Falcons have been awaiting various bonuses since 2021, and there has been ongoing debate about who would be responsible for paying their World Cup prize money.

In response to a statement from the International Federation of Professional Footballers (FIFPRO) urging the NFF to settle the players’ dues, the NFF released a statement affirming that there are no issues with the players. They assured the players prior to the World Cup that all owed monies would be paid to them.

The NFF stated its commitment to making the payments to the players as soon as they receive the World Cup funds from the Federation of International Football Federation (FIFA).

For reaching the Round of 16 in the World Cup, each player is entitled to $60,000, in addition to win bonuses and allowances for qualifying matches that are yet to be paid by the NFF.

The Super Falcons exited the tournament following a penalty shootout defeat of 4-2 against England’s Three Lionesses.
