Senator Chris Ngige, the former Minister of Labour and Employment, staunchly defends the All Progressives Congress (APC) government led by former President Muhammadu Buhari, refuting claims of its failure. Ngige, who was an integral part of the government, asserts that he personally witnessed and contributed to the administration’s accomplishments, citing the completion of the Second Niger Bridge, school feeding programs, and developments at the Enugu Airport, among other projects.
Speaking to journalists while distributing palliatives in Alor, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, Ngige maintains that his faction is the authentic APC in Anambra and dismisses reports of a crisis within the party. Despite acknowledging the existence of two factions, he emphasizes his role as the father and face of APC in Anambra, attributing the divisions to the influx of new members who are yet to fully integrate with the old party stalwarts.
Ngige expresses optimism about APC’s chances in the 2025 governorship race in Anambra, asserting that the party will overcome the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). Reflecting on the 2021 election, where APC faced challenges, he believes that the party will strategically position itself and address internal issues before the next election.
Addressing his sabbatical leave and future plans, Ngige hints at making decisions by the end of May, a year after he started his break. Meanwhile, he pledges to continue distributing essential food items to citizens, acknowledging the challenges faced by the people due to factors like banditry, flooding, and last year’s unfortunate farming season.
Ngige remains committed to supporting APC members, people with disabilities, and the elderly across the 21 local government areas of Anambra State, showcasing his dedication to addressing the needs of the community.
