Nigeria Mourns Chief Samuel Adebanjo at 96

Chief Samuel Ayodele Adebanjo, a revered nationalist and elder statesman, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2025, at his Lekki home in Lagos. He was 96. A prominent lawyer and former national leader of Afenifere, Chief Adebanjo was a strong advocate for true federalism and a significant figure in Nigeria’s political history.

Throughout his life, Chief Adebanjo championed justice, equity, and progress for Nigeria. He served as the organising secretary of the Action Group and remained dedicated to national development until his passing. He is survived by his wife, Chief Christy Ayo-Adebanjo, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

The family expressed gratitude for his service to God and the nation and is working on funeral arrangements. Condolence registers have been opened at his Lekki residence and country home in Ogun State, with more details to follow.
