Nigerian Rapper Oladips Breaks Silence on Death Prank Accusations

Nigerian street-hop rapper Oladips has strongly denied accusations suggesting that he orchestrated a death hoax to promote his latest album, ‘Superhero Adugbo,’ placing the blame squarely on rapper Qdot.

Expressing his frustration, Oladips took to his Instagram story on November 30, 2023, revealing that he had not communicated with Qdot for over a year prior to the incident. He emphasized that the speculation surrounding his supposed death was concocted by bloggers and individuals attempting to create controversy.

“There was never a video or post of me telling Nigerians, ‘heyy everyone it’s all a prank.’ It was all speculation based on hearsay and clout chasing. Bloggers misleading gullible Nigerians for likes and comments,” his post stated.

Oladips clarified that during the period when news of his alleged death surfaced, he was genuinely fighting for his life. He accused Qdot of contributing to the narrative that he faked his death.

“I know there is cruise. There is clout. And then there is truth! Qdot, the reason why you posted ‘My gee is alive’ at a time my family was unsure of my situation is so appalling and uncalled for. I dey where I dey struggle with my life, you dey post ‘My gee is alive.’ Unnecessarily misleading everyone. Made it look like me and you just had a conversation. Bro, I went through it and anything could have happened. The last me and you had any conversation was January 2, 2022. I get proof and I will soon tell the story in full! Cos why una dey always do like this for this industry tori olorun?,” he continued.

In addition to Qdot, Oladips directed criticism at his childhood friend Wavy, accusing him of posting old videos that contributed to the social media speculation. However, Wavy had previously clarified that his post was merely a result of denial over Oladips’ reported ‘death.’

On November 15, 2023, the shocking news of Oladips’ demise was announced by his management, stating that he passed away on the late evening of November 14, 2023. The now-deleted post mentioned that the rapper had been privately battling an illness for the past two years. Notably, Oladips omitted the fact that his management initially pronounced him dead, leading to continued scrutiny from social media users.
