“NNPP Split over Tinubu and Atiku: Kwankwaso and Allies Suspended”

The Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso faction of the New Nigeria People’s Party held a parallel National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja to reverse Kwankwaso’s suspension. The faction expelled Major Agbo, the new acting National Chairman appointed by the party’s Board of Trustees, along with other members involved in Kwankwaso’s sanction.

Earlier, Kwankwaso was suspended by the party’s Board of Trustees for alleged anti-party activities. The Board had taken the decision to sanction Kwankwaso and appoint new national officers, including Major Agbo, at a NEC meeting in Lagos.

Agbo and founder of the party, Dr. Boniface Aniebonam, had been suspended from the party on August 24, a move that was contested by many within the party. The disagreements stem from allegations of Kwankwaso’s involvement in anti-party activities and secret meetings with other political figures.

Amid these developments, there seems to be a struggle for control and legitimacy within the New Nigeria People’s Party, with parallel actions taken by different factions. The situation reflects internal conflicts that can impact the party’s stability and direction.
