NSA Assures Security for Upcoming Elections in Kogi, Bayelsa, Imo

The National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, has reassured residents of Kogi, Bayelsa, and Imo states of security preparedness during the upcoming governorship elections in the states. Ribadu warned political actors against any form of violence during the elections and emphasized that severe consequences await anyone attempting to disrupt the electoral process.

In a statement released by the Head of Strategic Communication at the Office of the National Security Adviser, Zakari Mijinyawa, Ribadu highlighted the establishment of a monitoring system with field monitors deployed to collect evidence of violence and irregularities during the elections.

The NSA acknowledged the directive of President Bola Tinubu, stating that security agencies have made adequate preparations to ensure safe, secure, and transparent elections. The Federal Government has mobilized all necessary resources for the smooth conduct of the elections, and Ribadu called on election managers to strictly adhere to the President’s instructions.

Ribadu emphasized the importance of good conduct for security agents deployed during the elections, urging them to uphold professionalism and ethical standards. He encouraged voters in the three states to come out en masse to exercise their franchise, assuring them of adequate protection.

The NSA’s statement reflects the government’s commitment to maintaining peace and security during electoral processes, underscoring the need for a free and fair democratic exercise.
