NSCDC detains two traffickers In Ondo

Babatunde Oluwasola and Dada Fowowe have been detained by the Ondo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps for allegedly participating in human trafficking.

Three teenage females were allegedly recruited by the suspects to travel to Libya in April of this year.

The suspects were detained in the towns of Akure and Ondo, according to the command’s spokesman, Daniel Aidamenbor, on Monday.

Aidamenbor stated, “Oluwasola, a.k.a. ‘Osanle’, 56 years old, a carpenter from Osun State but a resident of Akure, lured three girls from Akure to Libya sometime in or around April 2023.

He was able to obtain one of them thanks to Mrs. Dada Fowowe, also known as Iya Alaso, a 47-year-old trader from Ondo State. Two weeks after leaving Akure, Ondo State, the victims who went through the desert to Libya called Mr. Babatunde through the person who had welcomed them to inform him of their arrival.

“The victim, a 15-year-old girl who had lived with her parents in Akure before she left, had not told anyone about her journey; it was only when she arrived in Libya that she realized things weren’t going as planned, so she had to contact her father, who had been looking for her, asking the father for assistance, who then reported the incident to the NSCDC Ondo State Command

The suspects had already given confessional confessions, he said, and the case would be handed over to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons for further action after the inquiry.
