Former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, has taken a decisive step away from partisan politics, asserting that he’s no longer involved in the affairs of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), his former political home.
In a momentous declaration made during the commissioning of the VIP lodge at the government house in Osogbo, Osun State, Obasanjo emphasized his disengagement from party politics while commending Governor Ademola Adeleke for fostering unity within the PDP ranks in the state.
Acknowledging the significance of fostering unity among party members, Obasanjo lauded Adeleke’s efforts, stressing that such cohesion is beneficial not only for the party but also for the well-being of the state and the nation at large.
Addressing Adeleke directly, Obasanjo recounted recent events and conversations, highlighting the importance of combining action with dialogue in political endeavors. He emphasized the need to extend invitations to key party figures for constructive deliberations, citing the presence of Senator Olu Alabi and Alhaji Fatai Akinbade, among others.
In a poignant moment, Obasanjo underscored the necessity of inclusivity in political processes, urging for the involvement of all stakeholders for the greater good of the party, the state, and the entire nation.
With his firm stance on stepping away from party politics, Obasanjo signals a shift in his political engagement, prioritizing unity and collective progress over partisan affiliations. As his words resonate across the political landscape, they serve as a reminder of the enduring importance of dialogue, cooperation, and inclusive governance in building a stronger, more united Nigeria.
