Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has pledged automatic recruitment into the State Civil and Public Service for first-class graduates of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) who are of Edo origin. The assurance was given during the 48th Convocation and 53rd Founders’ Day ceremony at the UNIBEN main campus in Ugbowo, Benin City.

Governor Obaseki commended the quality of governance displayed by the Vice Chancellor of UNIBEN and acknowledged the university’s significant contribution to human capacity development in Edo State. He highlighted the state’s commitment to supporting the university, even though it is not state-owned.

Expressing gratitude for UNIBEN’s achievements, Obaseki announced the standing policy of the Edo State Government, stating that any student of Edo State origin graduating with a first-class degree from any recognized university is eligible for automatic employment by the Edo State Government.
