Obaseki Hosts BRACED Governors’ Council

In a bid to foster economic cooperation and regional integration, Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, South-South Nigeria, is set to host a crucial meeting of the BRACED (Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Edo, and Delta) Commission on Thursday.

Findwhosabi News has learned that the meeting, scheduled to take place in Benin City, will see the participation of Governors from Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, and Delta States. Chris Nehikhare, the Edo State Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, conveyed this information through an official statement.

BRACED Commission’s Purpose:

Established in 2010 under Article 14 of the BRACED Agreement and signed on June 13, 2011, the BRACED Commission aims to advance economic cooperation and regional integration among the South-South States. This collective effort is designed to contribute to the overall improvement of living standards for the people of the region.

Governor Obaseki as Chairman:

Governor Obaseki, serving as the chairman of the BRACED Commission Governors’ Council, will lead discussions on Thursday. The meeting is anticipated to focus on reviving and fortifying the BRACED Commission, aligning with the region’s shared vision for collective economic development and integration.

Agenda Highlights:

According to Nehikhare, the South-South Governors will deliberate on critical issues, including the security of lives and property within the region. The meeting held by Obaseki will also explore effective strategies to enhance the knowledge-sharing and peer-review mechanisms implemented by the BRACED Commission.
