“Ogun Tribunal Waves Away PDP’s Plea, Sets Stage for Sept 4 Written Showdown!”

The Governorship Election Tribunal in Abeokuta, Ogun State, has set the date for the adoption of written arguments as Monday, September 4th, with both sides submitting digital copies.

Meanwhile, an application from the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) counsel, Gordy Uche, for a break was rejected after their witnesses presented strong evidence against the petitioners.

During the hearing, four witnesses highlighted instances of electoral misconduct, including manipulation, disruption, and inducement through preloaded ATM cards. These claims were supported by solid evidence and officially marked as exhibits.

Gordy Uche, representing the petitioner, objected to the witnesses’ evidence, asking for more time to prepare and raising concerns about certain documents presented. However, the Tribunal ruled against this objection, allowing the proceedings to continue.

Counsel for the second respondent, Chief Wole Olanipekun, emphasized the importance of proceeding without delay, opposing the request for a break to study witnesses’ statements. The Tribunal agreed with this stance, dismissing the application for a break.

Overall, the Tribunal rejected the petitioner’s application for a break and overruled objections to the questioning process. The case continues without disruption.
