Ojudu Questions Babangida’s Sudden Change of Heart

Former senator Babafemi Ojudu has wondered why General Ibrahim Babangida, who once said he would never write a book, has now published his memoir, A Journey in Service.

Speaking at a virtual event on Sunday, Ojudu said he had visited Babangida twice after he left office, and both times, the former leader insisted he would never write a book. “The question is, what changed?” he asked.

Ojudu also said the book does not offer deep reflections, especially on the annulment of the June 12, 1993, election, which still defines Babangida’s legacy. He described the memoir as a defensive story rather than an honest account, saying, “It feels like something written under pressure.”
