Old tweets from the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, widely known as Mohbad, recounting an assault allegedly perpetrated by some individuals within the Marlian Music team, have resurfaced on social media. These tweets emerged after a statement was released by former label head, Naira Marley, in which he vehemently denied any involvement in or instruction of an attack on Mohbad.
The series of posts, dated October 6, 2022, and found on the platform formerly known as Twitter, were dug up by concerned Nigerians to counter Naira Marley’s assertions. According to these posts, Naira Marley was purportedly present during the alleged attacks and played a role in coordinating some of them.
In Naira Marley’s statement, issued on Tuesday, he refuted allegations of involvement in the assault on Mohbad or any instructions to harm him. He stated unequivocally, “For the avoidance of doubt, I have never instructed anyone, whether a friend, known associate, or fans, to attack, bully, or harass Mohbad. Concerning the artists on the label, none of our artists has ever engaged in disputes or mistreated Mohbad.” Furthermore, the singer expressed his intention to return to Nigeria to cooperate with the police investigation into Mohbad’s untimely demise.
