Ondo Commissioner assaulted and injured over palliative distribution dispute

One of the commissioners in Ondo State, Dr. Mrs. Bunmi Osadahun, was reportedly beaten to a pulp at the weekend. It has been stated that the distribution of the palliatives to mitigate the effect of the government’s suspension of gasoline subsidy has caused ripples in the state.

According to reports, the All Progressive Congress (APC) leaders attacked the state’s commissioner for women’s affairs and social development, Osadahun, who is from the area, as the state government distributed palliatives to residents of Akoko North West Local Government Area’s Arigidi Akoko.

A dispute broke out when several APC leaders from Arigidi Akoko protested the arrangement, stating that the Commissioner had marginalized them in the distribution of palliatives and that the exercise had been conducted in secrecy by government officials.

In a video that was going around on social media, the commissioner, Osadahun, was seen trading insults with a man before the man struck the commissioner with a chair.

“The man, who is a ward Chairman of the party in Arigidi, in Akoko North West, Olumide Awolumate, was present during the distribution of palliatives in the council, but nobody knew what transpired between the two of them,” a source from the community revealed.

Many people have been protesting about the inequitable distribution of palliatives, he claimed, and some locals have boycotted the practice.

“The man was trying to slam the chair on the Commissioner’s head while Osadahun has been dealt injuries to her face and head,” he claimed.

Immediately after this, a group of young guys who supported the commissioner surrounded the assailant and dealt with him.
