The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State has expressed skepticism about the effectiveness of President Bola Tinubu’s intervention in resolving the political crisis in the state. Tinubu met with the leadership of the State House of Assembly and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state in an attempt to find a solution to the crisis.
The PDP, through its Publicity Secretary, Kennedy Peretei, characterized the meeting as mere “window dressing” and emphasized that the crisis would not be meaningfully resolved unless Governor Rotimi Akeredolu returns to the state. Peretei raised concerns about the potential outcome of the presidential intervention, citing previous instances where reconciliation efforts did not yield lasting results.
He commented, “Tinubu’s intervention is a mere window dressing. Out of respect for his office, the impeachment of the Deputy Governor will no longer see the daylight, but as long as Akeredolu remains in hiding, it is not yet Uhuru, the cat and mouse race will continue.”
The political crisis in Ondo State involves factions loyal to Governor Akeredolu and his Deputy, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa. Tinubu’s intervention is aimed at restoring stability and resolving internal conflicts within the APC in the state.
