The Osun State Government has strongly opposed calls for a state of emergency in the state, dismissing them as baseless and politically motivated. The controversy arose after the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ajibola Basiru, warned Governor Ademola Adeleke to avoid a crisis similar to Rivers State and hinted at possible federal intervention.
In response, Osun’s Commissioner for Information, Kolapo Alimi, criticized Basiru’s statement, calling it reckless and an attempt to destabilize the state. He insisted that Osun remains peaceful and that APC’s alleged tactics to regain power through the backdoor would fail.
Alimi further urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ignore Basiru’s call, labeling it a desperate political move. He reassured residents that Governor Adeleke’s administration remains focused on governance and stability in Osun State.
