A nurse named Mrs. S. Ogunyinka has apparently been kidnapped by several unidentified gunmen.
According to reports, Ogunyinka was kidnapped on Friday while she was on her way back from a farm located in Osun State along the Iwo/Ileogbo Road.
The nurse’s husband, whose identity could not be verified right away, was allegedly shot by the kidnappers during the assault, and the wife was then transported to an unidentified location.
According to reports, Ogunyinka works as a staff nurse at Ola-Oluwa LG, Bode-Osi, Osun State’s Primary Healthcare Department.
During an interview with our correspondent on Tuesday, a coworker of the victim, who wished to remain anonymous, stated that since the event, the security agencies have not made significant attempts to secure her release.
He continued by saying that the victim’s coworkers have started raising money to help her family because the kidnappers allegedly sought N20 million at first before lowering the ransom to N10 million.
“No sincere attempts were made by the security personnel to ensure the victim’s liberation. The family is talking with the kidnappers. The kidnappers have lowered their demand from N20m to N10m. “We want the government to get involved in helping us secure her freedom,” he declared.
“Let’s join hands to pray for the quick and safe return of Mrs. Ogunyinka S.A who was reportedly kidnapped on Friday, November 17, 2023, at gunpoint along the Iwo-Ile Ogbo axis,” said a message sent among her coworkers that reporters were able to receive. May God bless the family during this difficult time.
Yemisi Opalola, the public relations officer for the state police, acknowledged the occurrence and stated that steps were underway to release the victim when reached.
The event took place a week ago. We’re working to release the victim and apprehend the offenders,” the spokeswoman stated.
