PDP’s Bwala Eager To Work With Tinubu

Prominent PDP’S Critic, Daniel Bwala, Open to Appointment Offer for Developmental Agenda
In an unexpected turn of events, Daniel Bwala, a notable member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) known for his critical stance against President Bola Tinubu, has expressed his willingness to accept an appointment from the President. Bwala conveyed his openness during an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics program, revealing that he would consider the offer if it aligns with Tinubu’s development agenda.

Bwala, a lawyer and politician, recently met with President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, sparking discussions about the potential collaboration. Addressing the matter on the television show, he stated, “If the President makes an offer of a position that I see will contribute to the development of his agenda because I say I will support his agenda, I will more than anything else appreciate it.”

Emphasizing that his support is not contingent on securing an appointment, Bwala drew a distinction between those seeking positions for personal gain and individuals dedicated to contributing value irrespective of official roles. He highlighted his past support for President Buhari during his eight-year tenure, where he served as a public official.

Last week’s announcement of Bwala’s endorsement of Tinubu drew significant attention, especially considering his role as the spokesperson of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council for the 2023 elections, supporting Atiku Abubakar. Bwala had previously left the All Progressives Congress (APC) after Tinubu selected Kashim Shettima as his running partner.

In a noteworthy critique, Bwala had criticized Tinubu’s choice of a Muslim running mate despite both being Muslims. This criticism led him to join the PDP campaign, endorsing Atiku’s choice of a Christian running mate, former Delta governor Ifeanyi Okowa.

During the Sunday interview, Bwala likened his role as the PDP presidential candidate’s spokesman to that of a salesman, where his responsibility was to promote their product and downplay the competition.

Bwala disclosed that he informed Atiku Abubakar about his meeting with President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa. He quoted Atiku’s response, stating, “Thanks, Daniel, for notifying me.” The unfolding dynamics between Bwala and the opposition party continue to add intrigue to the political landscape as the nation counts down to the 2024 elections.
