Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro expressed that clinching victory in the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) would mark the pinnacle of his career.
Nigeria is poised to secure their fourth AFCON title as they prepare to confront Cote d’Ivoire at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Abidjan on Sunday night.
In an interview with Portuguese sports daily O Jogo, Peseiro emphasized the significance of the AFCON, stating, “This [AFCON] is very important for us. We made a sporting and not a financial bet, reaching a final like this is important in terms of investment in our career.”
Peseiro affirmed the team’s determination, expressing, “They can’t tell us anything about what we have done so far. We want to win this final; it is good for everyone. Winning [the AFCON] will be a highlight of my career.”
Peseiro boasts coaching experience with various teams including Venezuela, Saudi Arabia, Porto, Braga, and Sporting CP.
