Peter Obi, Joins Imo State Governorship Campaign Rally

Owerri, Imo State – The former presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 elections, Peter Obi, is set to participate in the Labour Party’s gubernatorial campaign rally in Imo State’s Orlu zone. This move is part of the party’s efforts to garner support for its gubernatorial candidate, Senator Athan Achonu, ahead of the Imo State gubernatorial election in November.

A statement released in Owerri by Chibuikem Diala, the Director of Media and Publicity for the LP’s gubernatorial candidate, Athan Achonu, confirmed that Peter Obi would be actively involved in the campaign rally. The statement emphasized Obi’s role in persuading the electorate to cast their votes in favor of the Labour Party.

Athan Achonu has been gaining significant grassroots support across the state, with extensive campaigns and rallies in all 27 local government areas. Notably, he has already campaigned in 15 of these LGAs, attracting substantial crowds that underscore his popularity among the people.

Athan Achonu’s campaign focuses on practical solutions and clear plans for revitalizing the state’s economy, with pledges to establish industrial parks across the three zones of Imo State. He also promises local government autonomy and the organization of free and fair local government elections within six months of his administration.

His approach to tackling the state’s security challenges has garnered praise, particularly in a state where insecurity has led the sitting governor to govern from outside its borders.

The association of Peter Obi with Athan Achonu’s campaign bolsters the candidate’s credibility and underscores the party’s commitment to deliver on its “Take Back Imo” message. This move is seen as a testament to Achonu’s promise to replicate in Imo the effective governance that Peter Obi provided during his time as governor of Anambra State.

The campaign message urges Imo State residents to turn out in large numbers on November 11th to vote for the Labour Party, emphasizing that it will bring about positive change and rescue the state from its current challenges.

The upcoming election will undoubtedly be closely watched as it unfolds in November, with Athan Achonu and the Labour Party aiming to make a significant impact in Imo State’s political landscape.
