Peter Obi – Sambisa Forest Produce Kidnapping And Not Food

Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has criticized the underutilization of Nigeria’s vast arable lands, particularly in Sambisa, Borno State, which he says has been producing banditry and kidnapping instead of food. Obi highlighted that both Sambisa and Niger State have the potential to feed not only Nigeria but the entire African continent.

In an interview with Why Not Afrika, Peter Obi expressed concern that Nigeria, with its vast agricultural potential, ranks among the world’s hungriest nations. He emphasized that if the country’s arable lands were put to productive use, Nigeria would not be facing a food crisis.

Peter Obi reiterated his commitment to transforming Nigeria from a consumption-based economy to a production-driven one. He pointed out that while countries like Morocco and Egypt are doing better in terms of food security, Nigeria continues to struggle despite its resources. He urged the government to harness these resources to create a productive and prosperous nation.
