In Burra Forest in Ningi LGA, the police in Bauchi State have apprehended suspected kidnappers, along with their informants, and freed 10 of their captives.
The suspects were paraded alongside other criminals yesterday, according to the Commissioner of Police (CP), Auwal Musa Muhammad, who said, “On July 2, 2023, the command successfully arrested six suspected kidnappers—four males and two females—including their informants, terrorizing Burra village in Ningi LGA.”
The six suspects were identified as Hamisu Umaru (disabled), Ahmadu Abdullahi, Adamu Wada Tela, Usman Iliya, Rabi Tela Abdulmumini, and Hajara Bello by the speaker.
He stated that the suspects’ capture was a continuation of the command’s activities, which had already resulted in the destruction of the kidnappers’ stronghold in the Burra Forest because of the police’s superior weaponry.
CP Muhammad added that during the operations, the command freed five abducted victims from the kidnapper’s lair, including a woman and her child from the Mai Unguwan Kayel the village in the Balma District.
CP Muhammad added, “On July 31, 2023, the operation continued to produce incredibly encouraging results as five further abducted victims were freed from various kidnapper strongholds in Burra Forest.
Along with the 70 cows, 60 sheep, and goats suspected of having been rustled, two suspected kidnappers were also detained.
The command, he continued, has also apprehended rustlers terrorizing Ningi and surrounding areas.
