police in Rivers detain woman for pouring hot water on husband

According to the Rivers State Police Command, after a domestic argument in the Agbonchia village of the state’s Eleme Local Government Area, a woman named Godslove Olakada who allegedly poured boiling water on her husband, Olakada Ejire, was detained by the police.

The woman had earlier engaged in a contentious debate with her husband, Olakada Ejire, who is from the Eleme LGA, by accusing him of failing to give her the N15,000 profits that were supposed to be split between them and their children from the host community.

An eyewitness reported that Olakada, a mother of two who was upset by the situation, bathed the man on his face with hot water before making an attempt to flee.

She then tried to run with the man’s ATM, but local kids stopped her and gave her up to the police, according to the source who asked to remain anonymous.
This occurred less than a week after Hope Nwala, a lady, soaked her husband in hot groundnut oil while he slept in Okehi, Etche LGA of the state, as a result of an argument.

In a statement released on Monday morning, the state police command’s spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, acknowledged the occurrence and stated that the woman is currently being detained.
The statement, which was given to news reporters in Port Harcourt, was headlined “A Case of Grievous Harm.”

According to the document, Godslove Olakada (f) from Agbonchia Eleme was detained on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at around 20:30 hrs. for dousing her spouse, Olakada Ejire (m), with hot water.

“He was sent urgently to Aleto Eleme’s Famo Hospital for treatment. Domestic family problems were the root cause.

Iringe-Koko said that a probe into the situation had started.
The PPRO declared that an investigation had started to find the source of the problem.
She asked people to call the police right away if they were in distress.
