Former boxing champion, Prince Naseem Hamed, has advised Nigerian-born British heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua to consider retiring from the sport after suffering his fourth professional loss. On September 21, Joshua, a former two-time world champion, was knocked out in the 5th round by fellow Brit Daniel Dubois, marking his latest setback in the ring.
Despite the defeat, Joshua remains committed to continuing his boxing career. His promoter, Eddie Hearn, has expressed confidence in Joshua’s abilities, hinting at the possibility of a rematch or a significant fight in Saudi Arabia as part of the Riyadh Season. Hearn believes Joshua still has what it takes to compete at the highest level.
However, Prince Hamed feels Joshua should step away from the sport while he still can. He highlighted the risks of continuing in such a physically demanding sport after taking heavy blows, saying, “He’s done great; he’s won amazing world titles… He should bow out gracefully.”
