Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has made headlines with a bold statement about Marcus Rashford’s uncertain future at the club.
Amorim hinted at issues with Rashford’s attitude and effort in training, stating he would prefer to field his 63-year-old goalkeeping coach rather than a player who does not fully commit to his standards.

The England international has not featured for United in over two month, with his last appearance dating back to December 12. Rashford was absent again during United’s narrow 1-0 victory over Fulham, further fueling speculation about his potential departure from Old Trafford.

Amorim’s remarks point to the forward’s lack of application in training as the main reason for his prolonged absence, dismissing any tactical motivations. The manager was clear that Rashford’s path back into the squad depends entirely on a change in his approach.

“It’s always the same reason,” said Amorim regarding Rashford’s exclusion. “The reason is the training. I see what a footballer should do in training, in life. Is every day, every detail. So if things don’t change, I will not change.
“It is same situation for every player, if you do the maximum, if you do the right things, we can use every player. And you see it today on the bench, because we miss a little bit pace, to go and change the game, to move some pieces, but I prefer like that.

“I will put the Vital before I put a player that don’t give the maximum every day. I will not change in that department.”
Reports suggest that Rashford could be available for a loan move, with interest from high-profile clubs, including Barcelona.

Manchester United will next face Steaua Bucharest in the Europa League on Thursday before hosting Crystal Palace in the Premier League three days later.
