Residents of the Oyede Avenue Plaza in Ogun State’s Sango-Ota area discovered the rotting body of a newborn baby on Sunday.
According to a police source, the mother of the baby girl, Esther Ojuko, 21, who was believed to have delivered the baby alive, allegedly killed her by wrapping the baby in a sack and throwing her into a nearby complex.
Reporters were unable to determine how old the deceased baby was at the time of the occurrence.
According to the state police command, Ojuko may have been mentally ill at the time of the murder.

When contacted, Omolola Odutola, the state police public relations officer, verified the event with the media on Monday and stated the mother had been detained.
