The Rivers State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged President Bola Tinubu to disregard covert attempts by external forces to enable former Governor Nyisom Wike’s takeover of the party in the state.
In an open letter to President Tinubu, dated July 6, the Rivers State APC cautioned against Wike’s efforts to impose himself on the party and gain control of its structures in the state.
The letter, signed by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Darlington Nwauju, warned President Tinubu to be cautious of Wike and his associates, asserting that Wike’s professed support for the party now would undermine the commitment of loyal and dedicated APC members and stakeholders.
The party highlighted Wike’s history of inflicting severe brutality on APC members and their families in Rivers State, resulting in numerous casualties.
Furthermore, the Rivers State APC rejected any plans to acknowledge Wike’s contribution following the party’s electoral victory in the state, stating, “Dear Mr. President, we want to clarify that Gov. Wike did not bring any value to our beloved Rivers State APC; instead, he fought against our party.”
The APC chapter urged President Tinubu, a consistent advocate for party growth and sustainability based on a people-centered approach, to resist former Governor Wike, as he lacks a consistent political ideology to guide his actions.
