Pastor Sam Adeyemi, the Senior Pastor of Daystar Christian Center, has emphasized the importance of the older generations, including political and religious leaders, retracing their steps to ensure the development and success of Nigeria. Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Tuesday, Adeyemi urged the elite class to act urgently, discussing and working towards the nation’s progress.
Adeyemi highlighted the inevitability of the younger generation seeking accountability and good leadership, emphasizing that Nigeria’s current state of suffering could lead to a crisis. He stressed the need for the elite class to act now, rather than waiting for a crisis to unfold.

In August 2023, Adeyemi had expressed concern over the gap between leaders and the masses in Africa, citing a deeply rooted leadership culture where the leader holds significant power, often at the expense of the followers. He called for intentional efforts to replace old beliefs and behaviors with new ones, emphasizing the role of education, leadership example, economic empowerment, and infrastructure in effecting meaningful change.
Adeyemi reiterated that democracy thrives best in countries valuing life and equality, where the power gap between leaders and the people is minimal. He asserted that being a leader should be a call to serve, not a position of superiority, and urged the elite class to contribute to building a Nigeria that works for all.
