Sarkodie Explains Why He Didn’t Respond to Yvonne Nelson: “I Might Lose”

Ghanaian rapper, Michael Owusu Addo, popularly known as Sarkodie, has opened up about why he chose to respond to his ex-girlfriend, Yvonne Nelson’s allegations through a diss track rather than a media tour.

Yvonne Nelson had made controversial claims in her memoir, ‘I Am Not Yvonne Nelson’, stating that Sarkodie got her pregnant, denied responsibility, and convinced her to have an abortion during their early careers.

In response, Sarkodie released the controversial song ‘Try Me’, where he refuted the allegations, saying he advised Yvonne to keep the pregnancy but wasn’t ready to be a father.

Speaking with popular media personality, Angela Yee, Sarkodie explained that he refrained from doing a media tour or press interviews on the matter because he feared he might lose his composure. He felt that addressing the issue through a song would enable him to present his side of the story more effectively.

The rapper mentioned that people often make accusations against him in the media, knowing he rarely responds. He expressed his dislike for engaging in such discussions because he doesn’t want to be caught up in negative energy.

While Sarkodie admitted that he wasn’t entirely proud of everything surrounding the situation, he believed that addressing the issue through his music allowed him to express his feelings truthfully and sincerely. He emphasized that it was a private matter between two people, but he chose to address it in his unique way, using his music as a means of communication.
