Following the Supreme Court’s recent judgment affirming his re-election in the March 18, 2023 governorship election, Gombe State Governor, Inuwa Yahaya, has expressed his commitment to redouble efforts in advancing development across the state.
In a press statement signed by the Director-General, Press Affairs, Ismaila Misilli, Governor Yahaya described the Supreme Court’s decision as not only a personal and party triumph but also an affirmation of the will of the people of Gombe State. He acknowledged the citizens who exercised their democratic right during the election, expressing gratitude for the renewed mandate for an additional four years.

The governor, now free from legal challenges, emphasized that the focus and energy of his administration would be directed towards advancing the development of Gombe State. Reflecting on the accomplishments of the first term, he highlighted implemented projects, initiated programs, and enacted policy reforms that significantly improved the lives of citizens.
Governor Yahaya assured the people of Gombe that his administration is committed to doing even more in the second term, promising additional democracy dividends. He credited the longstanding synergy between his administration and the people as a significant contributor to the successes achieved in the last four and a half years.
Commending the Supreme Court Justices for their diligence and thoroughness in handling the case, Governor Yahaya also expressed appreciation to his legal team for their efforts in defending the mandate of the Gombe people from the tribunal to the apex court.
Extending an olive branch to members of the opposition, especially those who pursued different cases in the courts, Governor Yahaya emphasized the collective ownership of Gombe State. In the spirit of unity and progress, he urged all members of the opposition to join in the challenging task of working for greater Gombe. With the legal battle concluded, the governor emphasized a call for collaboration, stating, “There are no winners or losers; let us work together for the progress and prosperity of our dear state.”
