The Nigerian star Ademola Lookman was notably missing from the list of nominees for Serie A’s September Player of the Month award, despite his outstanding performances.
Serie A recently unveiled the six contenders for the prestigious award, and Lookman was not included, despite his consistent form for Atlanta.

The month of September saw exciting matches like the Milan derby and Juventus vs. Napoli, raising the competition for the award.
Among the nominees are standout players like Juventus’ Bremer, Inter Milan’s Federicp Dimarco, Napoli’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and AC Milan’s Christian Pulisic, all of whom earned recognition. Bolonga’s Santiago Castro and Como’s Patrick Cutrone alos secured spots, both having scored three goals during the month.
Serie A announced that the nominees were chosen based on advanced analysis from Stats Perform, using tracking data from the Hawk-Eye System. Unfortunately for Lookman, the data driven approach did not include him among September’s top performers, despite his contributions.
During the month, Lookman recorded two goals and one assist in three matches for Atlanta, but it wasn’t enough to earn a nomination.
However, the Super Eagles forward has already made a strong start in October, scoring and assisting in Atlanta’s 3-0 victory over Shakhtar Donetsk in the Championship League.
