The microphone that Cardi B hurled into the audience during a recent performance has fetched a staggering sum of nearly $100,000 in an eBay auction.
The Shure Axient digital microphone was put up for bidding by the owner of The Wave, the production company that owns the audio equipment.
The auction began with a starting bid of $500 and saw more than 120 bids placed within the span of about a week. The incident took place at Drai’s Beachclub in Vegas, where Cardi B had playfully asked the crowd to spray her with water.
However, her mood soured when someone in the audience tossed ice and liquid at her, prompting her to throw the microphone in response.
A woman who claimed to have been hit by the microphone reported the incident to the police, leading to Cardi B being named a battery suspect. Fortunately, she was exonerated by authorities last week.
The proceeds from the auction will be directed to two charitable causes – the Wounded Warrior Project and the local Las Vegas charity, Friendship Circle Las Vegas.
