The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) has allocated ₦5 billion for procuring vehicles for selected traditional rulers across Nigeria’s six geo-political zones. This was revealed by Tracka, a subsidiary of BudgIT, a non-governmental organization monitoring government spending and project implementation.
Tracka reported that over 2,558 projects worth ₦624 billion were allocated to agencies outside their mandates in the 2024 Federal Government Budget. Among these, SMEDAN, responsible for the growth of small and medium enterprises, allocated ₦1.2 billion for operational vehicles for security purposes in several states, including Oyo, Ogun, Lagos, Ekiti, Ondo, and Osun.
Additionally, SMEDAN allocated ₦496 million for constructing and rehabilitating rural roads in Akwa-Ibom State and ₦300 million for building a female ward in a general hospital in Kebbi State.
