Evang. Chinedu Obigwe, the National Coordinator of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Media Warriors Forum, has dismissed rumors of insecurity in Anambra State and affirmed that the state is now well-secured under the effective leadership of Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
Speaking in Awka yesterday, Obigwe addressed the pandemonium that erupted in various parts of the state on Friday due to rumors of an attack by unknown gunmen enforcing a one-week sit-at-home order by the Simon Ekpa-led group of Biafra agitators.
Obigwe emphasized the positive changes that have occurred in Anambra State, recalling that while there were previous concerns about insecurity, Governor Soludo himself experienced an attack by gunmen prior to the governorship elections. However, Soludo’s determination was unwavering as he confronted the situation head-on after taking office.
Upon assuming office, Governor Soludo prioritized tackling the problem of insecurity. At that time, reports of killings by unknown gunmen were a daily occurrence. However, today, such incidents are rare in the state.
Obigwe credited Soludo for directly confronting the killers, an approach that has apparently led these criminals, who previously posed as unknown gunmen, to resort to scare tactics and propaganda in an attempt to intimidate people.
He pointed out that members of the reasonable opposition party are acknowledging Governor Soludo’s comprehensive efforts to transform the state across all sectors. Conversely, he attributed the fabricated stories of insecurity in Anambra State to disgruntled opposition elements who plan to use such narratives for their 2025 campaign.
However, the reality on the ground, according to Obigwe, is that Anambra is now more secure than ever. The state’s water-tight security architecture, implemented by Governor Soludo, ensures that it is increasingly difficult to commit crimes and evade justice. He commended Governor Soludo for his dedication to the safety and well-being of the people of Anambra.
