Afrobeats artist Spyro has shared his struggles as a vocal advocate of Jesus Christ in the Nigerian music industry, highlighting the discrimination and lack of support he faces. Speaking in an interview with Echo Room, Spyro revealed that his “Jesus Boy” brand has drawn significant criticism and resistance from industry players.
Spyro lamented the absence of support from influential media figures, stating, “Apart from the blogs I paid to post me, how many media moguls post me? You see them supporting other artists, but once you declare Christ publicly, it’s like the whole system is designed to pull you down.” He emphasized that his public faith has made his journey more challenging.

The singer also shared advice from R&B artist-turned-pastor Banky W, who experienced similar struggles after declaring his faith. “Banky W told me his problems in the industry began when he proclaimed Christ. As a ‘bad boy,’ everything was fine, but once he chose to follow a godly path, the challenges started,” Spyro recounted, reinforcing the uphill battle for artists who openly express their faith.
