Former Jigawa State governor Sule Lamido has accused President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of misleading Nigerians about the country’s state and his administration’s actions. Speaking on the BBC Hausa program Gane Mini Hanya, Lamido, a PDP chieftain, criticized Tinubu’s loan requests despite claims of budget surpluses.
Lamido questioned the government’s fiscal approach, saying, “If the budget is ₦30 trillion and revenue generation is ₦50 trillion, why request loans with a ₦20 trillion surplus? This recklessness is unprecedented.” He also noted widespread criticism of the APC government, describing it as a “calamity” that some still defend despite the glaring issues.
Additionally, Lamido accused Tinubu and former President Buhari of using propaganda to govern, contrasting their administrations with the PDP era, which he claimed was transparent and accountable to Nigerians. He argued that the APC’s reliance on deception eroded trust in government policies and decisions.
