Suspects Flee with N40.6 Million Worth of Goods

The Ogun State Police Command is currently in pursuit of Joseph Nwakpe and other individuals who are accused of stealing and diverting Knorr seasoning products worth N40.6 million.

According to information obtained from a police source, it is alleged that Nwakpe and his associates were hired by a transport manager at Lap Global Resource, identified as Pedro Okanlawon, to transport 2,085 cases of Knorr seasoning from Agbara to Onitsha and Port Harcourt.

The truck used for transporting the products was described as a custom-painted Mercedes Benz with Registration Number 3364N244722 and Engine Number 3364N244722. It had the inscriptions “Never give up” and “Ifeomachukwu” on the front view.

Okanlawon, a transport manager based in Lagos, reportedly attempted to contact Nwakpe and the others multiple times via phone to inquire about their whereabouts. However, all attempts to locate the suspects failed. Subsequently, Okanlawon filed a petition against them at a police station in Agbara.

Following an investigation by the police, they arrested the truck’s driver, Danladi Suleiman, on September 5, 2023. Suleiman, who hails from the Ayetoro area of Agbara/Badagry Expressway, has reportedly confessed to his involvement in the theft.

The Ogun State Police Command, through its Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident. Odutola mentioned that while the arrested suspect had confessed to the crime, the police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
